Sharing of Customization and Construction Details of Monitoring Poles in Wireless Transmission Projects

Release time: 2025-12-15 09:02

During the construction process of the wireless monitoring project, the installation of the monitoring pole is an indispensable and crucial step. It seems that everyone often sees it and doesn't think it's anything special, always believing that it's just standard knowledge and common requirements, neither easy to operate nor practical. Therefore, in response to the requests of many friends, I have compiled some information about the commonly seen octagonal poles to share with everyone.

The composition of the monitoring pole: The security monitoring pole serves as the main body for supporting various components such as cameras, alarms, lighting devices, wireless network bridges, etc. It is mainly composed of the pole body, connection flanges, shaping support arms, installation flanges, and pre-embedded steel structure.

The common appearance forms of video surveillance poles: conical and two-stage straight poles

The commonly used monitoring poles are usually conical pipe poles; among them, the conical pipe poles are further divided into: beveled poles and round conical poles.

The conical rod has the following advantages over the two-stage column tube upright pole:

The processing method is simple: The conical pipe upright pole is directly produced by rolling a steel plate and then directly welding. The welding accuracy is almost not required. As long as the welding is aesthetically pleasing and reliable, it is sufficient. Meanwhile, the weld does not directly bear the force, and the durability and reliability are relatively high. However, the two-stage pipe upright pole needs to weld a connecting piece between the two different-sized straight pipes. The welding process requires higher standards. If the welding accuracy is not high, problems such as inconsistent and non-coinciding vertical axes of the upper and lower straight pipes will easily occur. In addition, the weld directly bears the gravitational force of the upper straight pipe, and if the welding quality is not good, it is likely to cause hidden dangers.

High wind resistance strength: The conical rod is manufactured using an integrated process, with uniform axial and lateral forces. In contrast, the two-stage column tube upright pole requires at least three component assemblies for welding, and its overall strength largely depends on the quality of the welding. Moreover, the uneven force distribution results in a lower strength compared to the former.

The appearance is quite attractiveThe design with a slender top and a thick bottom is more in line with the aesthetic preferences of most people. If the straight tube is too tall, it may make people feel unbalanced and unstable, thus creating an illusion of insecurity.

Let's start by discussing the construction and installation of the monitoring poles. Having covered the components, now let's talk about the installation of the monitoring poles.

The main construction steps are as follows: excavate the foundation pit, pre-install the ground cage, pour the concrete, and erect the poles.

The installation specifications for the monitoring poles are as follows:

1. Choose the camera installation method based on the location and requirements. When using the pole-mounted installation method, except for special cases, the height of the camera from the ground should generally be no less than 5000mm. The inner diameter of the lower end of the pole should be 220 mm ± 10mm, the inner diameter of the upper end should be 120 mm ± 5mm, the wall thickness should be ≥ 6mm, the length of the cantilever arm should be ≥ 3000mm, the pole should have a poured foundation, the foundation depth should be no less than 1500mm, and the bottom diameter should be no less than 1000mm.

2. The power supply should be equipped with an overcurrent and overvoltage protection device; important monitoring points should be provided with backup power supply, with the power supply duration not less than 8 hours; a grounding and lightning protection device should be available, and the grounding resistance of the lightning protection ground should be ≤ 10Ω.

3. When excavating the base pit on site, the principle of minimizing the excavation surface should be followed. After the base pit is dug, the construction unit shall carry out on-site pouring. During the on-site pouring process, the material ratio and reinforcement standards of concrete (such as C20) should be strictly followed. When installing (pouring in place) the base, the levelness of the base surface should be ensured to facilitate the installation of the pole body.

4. The concrete base should be properly maintained, and the maintenance period should be no less than 20 days.

5. The verticality of the mast shall not exceed 1/100.

6. The crossbeam is firmly welded to the main pole. The main pole is welded together with the connecting parts of the box body to fix the box body.

7. PVC pipes (such as Φ16mm) are pre-embedded inside the main pole to introduce power lines, which are connected to the sub-pipes reserved inside the base. A wire threading rod is reserved between the outlet hole of the main pole and the crossarm.

8. There should be no exposed wires between the box and the main pole, and there should be measures to prevent water leakage. There are two maintenance holes, one at the top and one at the bottom, which are convenient for wiring and maintenance.

9. Surface treatment: Zinc immersion, powder coating

10. The pole body is fixed to the base through bolts (more than 4) installed inside the base. After the pole body, grounding body and base are fully installed and fixed, if the bolts protrude from the ground, concrete should be used to completely enclose the entire flange and the fixing parts at the bottom of the pole body.

11. During the pole erection process, on-site construction workers must wear safety helmets and set up the construction area within the radius circle of the pole length. Warning devices should be installed to prohibit bystanders from entering the construction area. During night construction, in addition to wearing safety helmets, on-site construction workers should also wear reflective clothing. Reflective warning strips should be laid within the radius circle of the pole length in the construction area.
