The Application of Wireless MESH Self-Organizing Network Devices in Substation Inspection Robots

Release time: 2025-11-13 13:43

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's national economy, the demand for energy has been increasing significantly. The country's energy construction, especially the infrastructure construction of new energy, has also been expanding. The rapid development of the power energy grid has led to a sharp increase in the number of substations. At the same time, the shortage of on-duty personnel at substations has caused many problems in substation management. By using intelligent robots to assist or even replace human workers in conducting inspections of substation equipment, it is possible to effectively reduce safety hazards and achieve more reliable inspections of equipment.

The intelligent robot for substation inspection is mainly used for line inspection and maintenance. It can perform unmanned operations through remote control by substation staff or under the action of pre-set programs. The intelligent robot for substation inspection conducts inspections in long-distance or outdoor high-voltage dangerous environments, can promptly detect abnormal phenomena such as defects and foreign objects hanging in power equipment, and automatically alarms or performs pre-set fault handling. Its use can truly achieve the effect of reducing staff and increasing efficiency in substation line maintenance, can accelerate the progress of substation inspection line work, and improve the intelligence level of power system management.

At present, although robots have been widely applied in power inspection, the shortcomings of wireless communication technology still cause some problems for intelligent robots in power inspection work. These problems are mainly manifested in the following aspects.

      1. The inspection robot is small in size and the installation of antennas and equipment is restricted.

      2. Traditional wireless devices have complex settings when setting up a network, which increases the instability during the transmission process.

      3. The on-site electromagnetic signals are quite complex and can cause interference to the signals transmitted by the inspection robot.

Our company, based on the specific on-site conditions of the substation, recommends that users adopt MESH self-organizing network equipment for wireless link transmission. The specific scheme is shown in the following figure:

Five units of our company's TQ-5800M self-organizing network equipment are installed at the five corners of the substation. Sector antennas are used to provide wireless coverage for the substation area. At the same time, TQ-5800M self-organizing network equipment is installed on the inspection robot. The equipment on the robot is equipped with omnidirectional antennas. During the inspection process of the robot, it can freely form a network with other wireless devices in the signal coverage area, and use multiple wireless links for wireless transmission, effectively ensuring the stability of the transmission.

By using MESH self-organizing network devices, not only can real-time communication between the robot and the background be achieved, but also wireless communication between robots can be realized.

Through the deepfeng technology TQ-5800M series Mesh self-organizing network equipment, the substation inspection system can achieve a fully stable transmission effect, significantly improving the efficiency of substation inspection work. Moreover, this equipment can also be applied in unmanned vehicles and unmanned ships, and plays an extremely important role in modern intelligent control equipment communication.
